Not everyone checks social media—we get it. So we will keep a list of all updates and specials here so that all customers can stay informed.


In two weeks, Chefs Stephen Perez | @chefasaurusrex and Willet Feng | @willetcooks will collaborate on the tenth Anti Burger Club | @antiburgerclub dinner.

This dinner will feature itameshi, which is Italian food with Japanese touches.

We are also excited to offer several lesser-known Italian beers and wines that will pair well with the dishes. Japanese beers and sakes will also be available!

This dinner is not ticketed and there are no reservations. Food will be available for dine-in and takeout.


Strawberry milkshake!

The newest milkshake flavor to hit the menu is strawberry!

Our strawberry puree features organic strawberries and pure cane sugar, and we blend it together with our house-made ice cream base.

Sometimes it’s best not to mess with a classic.

When we say limited-time special, we mean it!

But don't fret, we order kimchi regularly, so Chef Willet Feng is always looking for fun ways to use the kimchi juice #nowaste.

Starting on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, we will open from 10am until 3pm for lunch on Tuesdays through Sundays.

Still closed on Mondays.

We will no longer have breakfast hours, but we'll still be able to make brekkie sandos!

Chef Willet combined cheddar, parmesan, fry seasoning, and pickled jalapeño juice to make a cheese sauce he felt good about adding to the menu.

And for all y'all who are counting calories, he left out the heavy cream, so you can enjoy this cheese sauce with less guilt.

Friday, 8/25/2023, open until 8pm!

burger-chan received e-mail notification from their landlord of a planned electricity outage on Saturday, August 26, 2023.  CenterPoint Energy scheduled the outage from 8am until 2pm, which means burger-chan cannot open on one of their busiest days.

In response, burger-chan will be closed on Saturday, August 26, 2023, but will extend hours the day before on Friday, August 25, 2023, to offer dinner service until 8pm.

We are dubbing this event “Anti Anti Burger Club” because we normally host “Anti Burger Club” dinners that don’t feature our regular burger menu.  In this case, we are opening for dinner hours but still offering our normal burger-chan menu of burgers, fries, shakes, and more.  We are extending our hours on Friday to give our staff the hours they lost on Saturday, and to recoup the lost business due to Saturday’s closure.

Our modified Anti Anti Burger Club business hours for Friday, August 25, 2023 are 9am until 11am for breakfast, 11am until 3pm for lunch, and then we’re staying open from 3pm until 8pm for dinner service

Many customers wish we would open for dinner service, so here’s their chance to get burger-chan on a Friday night!

Fried Mahi Mahi!

Introducing our upgraded fried fish sando!

It may not look different with all the trimmings, but we've changed the filet from fried cod to in-house panko-breaded mahi mahi.

Soba (buckwheat noodles), tsuyu (soba dipping sauce with dashi), house-made tamago, salted cucumbers, avocado, shiso, wasabi on the side, and an optional ikura (salmon roe) add-on.

Enough people asked if they could get Vietnamese coffee without it being a milkshake, and we finally relented.

Now when you ask if you can get a Vietnamese coffee, our answer is YES!

What is Vietnamese coffee? It's a mixture of concentrated Cafe du Monde coffee, sweetened condensed milk, and chewable nugget ice (this part isn't required, but who doesn't love chewable ice??)

We just finished dialing in the proportions of everything and tasting the final product, and I can assure you it is very strong and guaranteed to wake you up!

ABC x Alta Marfa Wine Dinner on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 6:30pm

Chef Willet Feng will create a six-course tasting menu that will pair with a variety of wines from Alta Marfa Winery.

Alta Marfa Winery co-founders Katie Jablonski and Ricky Taylor will be in attendance to pour the wine, talk about the wine, and hang out!

“The Bloody Feng” Mocktail


Introducing "The Bloody Feng": the burger-chan #WellWeek zero-proof cocktail!

It's a mixture of Tenneyson Black Ginger Plant Based Alcohol Alternative, V8 vegetable juice, and Sprite (either Sprite or Sprite Zero). It's finished with a garnish of togarashi beet.

Since we missed the first week of WellWeek, we'll offer this drink an additional week until October 23, 2022. Actually, this drink is kind of Halloween-themed, so let's just offer it until the end of the month!

burger-chan kolache is baaaack!

In 2021, we asked Kolache Shoppe to collaborate with us to create burger kolaches for a pop-up event benefiting Foodislovehtx.

The kolaches were a hit--no surprise--and after the event, folks were asking when we'd do it again.

In 2022, Kolache Shoppe asked us if we wanted to bring back the burger kolache for the month of September. We said yes, obvs.

This time we'll be offering the classic burger-chan burger in kolache form. The kolache filling contains 44 Farms ground beef cooked off in our umami glaze, and it's mixed with shredded cheddar and sauteed onions.

10% of all burger kolache sales will go towards Food is Love, and we're excited to start that back up again!

What's loco moco?

Tomato garlic rice + burger patty + housemade mushroom gravy + fried egg + green onions + seared Spam (optional, but recommended).


What Makes burger-chan So Special?

To be clear, we feel a little uncomfortable answering that question, but we get asked it a lot.

When we opened back in 2016, we didn't strive to stand out. Chef Willet took over a second-generation burger spot in an underground food court and put his own spin on an American classic. He drew on what he liked to eat and his culinary training to make the burger spot a place he'd like to eat at.

And his goal was satisfy the tastebuds of anyone who stepped up to the counter. So he crafted the checklist-style menu to allow people to create a unique burger based on their own preferences. He also created a few burger combinations like the Texan, mushroom swiss, bbq, and Spicy!!! for those who preferred a more curated experience.

What we love about the "Alison Cook burger" is that Alison started off with a classic American burger with the cheddar and sauteed onions, and then she added the kimchi relish and sambal mayo to give her creation an Asian twist.

Her burger represents what makes burger-chan so special. Whatever burger you craft, whatever ingredients you choose, the hope is that you'll make a great burger that you enjoy.

Some may accuse us of being gimmicky, overrated, and overhyped. Our response to that is that we don't claim to be the best, the most innovative, or anything like that.

We try our best to offer quality ingredients and tasty food with some creative twists you can't find elsewhere. We strive to provide a clean and welcoming environment.

We may occasionally miss the mark and make mistakes, and we welcome and appreciate constructive feedback. We'd always like the chance to fix an issue and make it right.

That's who we are at burger-chan, and we are thankful for all those who appreciate what we do.

Our menu allows people like Christopher Huang to order a burger composed of four 5-ounce beef patties, a fried egg, and seared Spam.

He polished off the whole burger in one sitting, and even downed a side of biscuits and gravy we sent out to him.

We do not promote overeating, but we do allow people to order what they want--within reason. And those who know Chris know that he loves to toe the line between reason and insanity .

For this dinner, we will allow in-store ordering day-of and we will allow customers to dine in. Indoor seating and outdoor patio seating will be available.

ABC Dinner #2

Anti Burger Club is back next week to take care of your midday dinner plan needs.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, and Thursday, May 26, 2022, we will offer delicious dinner options for takeout and delivery*.

In light of staffing issues, we will only be accepting orders online and will currently not offer in-store ordering or dine-in. The menu will go live for pre-ordering within the next few days.

*The delivery option is only available for customers who live within 5 miles from burger-chan. Unfortunately you cannot pre-order for delivery; you have to order delivery on Wednesday or Thursday between 5:00pm and 7:30pm.

**STORY AND AAPI MONTH GIVEAWAY**


Our parents immigrated to The United States from China because they believed this was the land of opportunity. They moved here to pursue graduate degrees and secured jobs in the medical and oil & gas field--jobs that they held for 30 plus years. They moved here so that they could save up enough to provide for their family both here and abroad--and give their children opportunities to pursue their dreams and fulfill their potentials.

Our parents probably wished that we had set our sights on paths that led to security, low stress, high prestige, and generous 401k plans. Instead, we chose to open a restaurant. 😂


Thankfully, our parents are still behind us 100%. They believe in us and support us--so to honor their hardwork and dedication, we give burger-chan our all...even though they keep telling us not to work too hard!

Inaugural Anti-Burger Club Dinner Menu

burger-chan is closed on Mondays.

But Anti Burger Club will make its debut in the burger-chan space on Monday, April 4, 2022, from 5:30pm until 8:30pm.

If I didn’t pre-order, can I still come?

Yes, walk-ins are encouraged and allowed. No reservations required, and Chef Willet designed the menu such that dishes should go out quickly.

Will there be a long line and long wait?

We cannot predict how many people will come, and we’ve never done this menu or concept before, so we cannot guarantee exact wait times.

Dine-in guests will not wait in line to order; we will offer table service.

Customers who want to order to-go can order directly with cashier, and then wait in comfort of car or on patio.

We will call or text when takeout orders are ready.

Introducing Anti Burger Club!

What is Anti Burger Club?

Anti Burger Club (ABC) is an outlet for Chef Willet Feng to create more than just tasty burgers. Willet is a classically trained chef with a penchant for Japanese, Southeast Asian, and Chinese cuisine. While Willet has plenty of dish ideas that he wants people to try, they don’t quite fit in on the burger-chan menu.

Hence the concept “Anti Burger Club”—or simply ABC—was born. Clearly we are a burger restaurant, so we are not against burgers by any means. But for the past few years, Willet has resorted to cooking non-burger dishes like curry laksa and chirashi as pop-ups out of bars and coffee shops. Now that he finally has his own brick-and-mortar, he can do dinner pop-ups inside the comfort of his own kitchen and space.

Currently we are closed on Mondays, so Monday nights make sense for Anti Burger Club dinners. The inaugural Anti Burger Club dinner will take place on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Closed 3/17/2022 and 3/18/2022 Due to Power Outage

Today was a good day until the lights started to flicker...

Trying not to cry over spilled milk and feel like we can't catch a break. We thought we were spared from the outage, but unfortunately returned to our space this evening to discover emergency lights on and everything else off. Willet is scurrying to either buy dry ice to preserve product or see if he can transport items to nearby kitchens.

Today was actually a pretty good day, and we were hoping to build on that momentum going into the weekend. But unfortunately this is out of our control and we will just have to accept certain obstacles and power through them.

Will keep everyone updated as to when we get power restored and can re-open!



Putit-House Beet Salad is only available for three more days: Wednesday, 3/16; Thursday, 3/17, and Friday, 3/18.

Pretty sure Ted is tired of roasting and peeling beets, so gotta give him a break 😄.

A Small Business Owner Confession and Apology

March 15, 2022

Dear all,

We wish we could be the shining success story that everyone makes us out to be. We wish the combination of hard work and good food was all that was needed to be successful. We wish we could be everything we aspired to be before the pandemic hit.

While we continue to work hard to put out good food and strive to be successful, we're just not quite there yet. Staffing has been hard. Adjusting to not having a built-in office clientele has been hard. Being there for customers while also being there for #emojibaby has been a struggle. We are constantly adjusting to figure out what will work for us. And we apologize to everyone who has tried to come visit only to discover we were closed. We've been adjusting hours to figure out when we can capture the most business.

So here's the hard truth: we are not constantly packed with lines out the door. We are still struggling to stay afloat, and we appreciate everyone who makes the choice to visit burger-chan.

There are times when we will have to scale back the menu or scale back hours. We are doing what we think is best to survive 2022 so that we can thrive down the line. Our mantra for this year is: "work with what you've got." We appreciate your patience, support, and understanding as we try to write our success story.

2/6/2022 Update

Houston, y'all came out yesterday and crushed us! Our kitchen team pushed their hardest, but wait times got a little long. Maybe a lotta long for some. And we want everyone to know that we're working on it, and everyone is trying their best.

As a result, we will be turning off online ordering next Saturday (2/12/2022). Hopefully, that will improve wait times. If you don't like waiting and have a flexible schedule, try coming between 2:30 and 3; we are usually fully caught up by that point...

We have been hiring and training new staff in the hopes of adding them to our Saturday team. But with how crazy Saturdays are, they need to know what they're doing before we schedule them - training slows down service significantly.

All this to say, we are trying to improve with every service. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us in spite of our mistakes and deficiences. And obviously thank you to our hardworking staff--without whom none of this would even be possible.

        Pricing: $7.98 flat fee within 8 mile radius. Fees decrease depending on order total. All delivery fees and tips will go to delivery drivers.

        We are not on any third-party online ordering or delivery platforms because they take an unsustainable percentage from sales.
